How to buy an eSIM with crypto (Bitcoin and Toncoin)
Which eSIM store in our rating accepts Bitcoin and TON, what to check before you pay, and how crypto refunds and fees differ from card checkout.
A travel eSIM is sold in three kinds of shop: a provider's app or website, a store bot inside Telegram, or your own carrier. We put seven stores on one shelf and compared how you buy, how you pay and what you can get back.
The easiest place to buy an eSIM online is a travel eSIM store: you pick a country, pay on the website, in an app or in a Telegram bot, and install the plan by QR code before you fly. On our shelf TonMobile leads with 9.3, because it sells in Telegram, on iOS and on Android and takes crypto next to cards. Airalo, Saily and Holafly follow with wider coverage claims of 200+ destinations.
Apple describes the same route in its own support pages: buy a prepaid plan from a local or worldwide provider's website or app before you leave, then activate it digitally. No shop counter, no plastic SIM and no queue at the airport.
What really differs between stores is not the idea but the fine print. One store takes PayPal, another takes Bitcoin. One refunds an unused plan within 30 days, another counts the package from the moment it activates. This page walks through those differences so you can pick where to buy before you pay.
The short version
Seven stores cover almost every way of buying a travel eSIM online. The table sums up how each one sells and what it is best at; the scores come from our full store rating, which explains every criterion.
| Store | Shelf score | Coverage claim | Where you buy | Crypto | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| TonMobile | 9.3 | 180+ countries | Telegram bot, iOS, Android, web | Bitcoin, TON | Telegram users, crypto payers |
| Airalo | 8.8 | 200+ locations | Web, iOS, Android | No | Many local plans |
| Saily | 8.8 | 200+ destinations | Web, iOS, Android | No | Small fixed packs |
| Holafly | 8.8 | 200+ destinations | Web, iOS, Android | No | Unlimited by the day |
| Nomad | 8.7 | 200+ destinations | Web, iOS, Android | No | Long stays, free trial |
| Yesim | 8.7 | 200+ destinations | Web, iOS, Android | No | Pay-as-you-go data |
| Ubigi | 8.6 | 200+ destinations | Web, iOS, Android | No | Monthly and annual plans |
Coverage figures are each store's own claim. TonMobile's website says 180+ countries, while its App Store and Google Play listings mention about 200 countries plus regional and global plans.
Travelers buy eSIMs online through three channels. Each one differs in how you check out, how you pay and whether you need an account or documents.
A travel eSIM provider resells local, regional and global mobile data plans as downloadable eSIM profiles. Airalo, Holafly, Saily, Nomad, Ubigi and Yesim all work this way. You choose a destination, pay by card or wallet and get a QR code or an in-app install button.
This is the most common way to buy. The trade-off is that payment options are mostly the same across stores: cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and, at several of them, PayPal.
A Telegram store bot is a shop that runs inside the messenger, so the whole purchase happens in a chat. TonMobile sells this way through the @tonmobile bot, which showed 29,857 monthly users on October 27, 2026. The same store also has iOS and Android apps for people who prefer a regular app.
Telegram checkout suits travelers who already live in the app or want to pay with Toncoin. Our guide on buying an eSIM in Telegram covers the steps and how to spot a fake bot.
A carrier eSIM moves your existing home number onto the eSIM chip, so the carrier usually asks you to sign in to your account first. It is the right choice when you change phones at home. Abroad it runs on your carrier's roaming terms, which is the cost a travel eSIM is meant to avoid; TonMobile, for example, says its plans cost up to 5 times less than roaming.

A travel eSIM works only on a phone that has an eSIM chip and is not locked to a carrier. Checking both takes two minutes and saves a refund request later.

Every store on our shelf accepts cards and mobile wallets, but only some accept PayPal, and only TonMobile accepts crypto. Payment is often the deciding factor when your card is declined abroad or you prefer not to share card details.
How you can pay
Checked on each store's payment page, Oct 27, 2026
Cards and wallets
Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay work at all seven stores. Airalo, Nomad, Ubigi and Yesim add more networks such as Amex, JCB or UnionPay.
PayPal
TonMobile, Airalo, Holafly, Nomad and Yesim accept PayPal at checkout; Ubigi accepts it in its app. Saily is the one store that does not list it.
Crypto
TonMobile lists Bitcoin and TON next to cards, plus a Telegram wallet option. None of the other six list crypto on the pages we checked.
Paying with crypto has its own rules for refunds and fees. TonMobile returns crypto refunds within up to 5 business days, while network fees stay with the buyer. The full walk-through is in our guide on buying an eSIM with crypto.
Each store below is described with the same facts: what it is, how you buy, how you pay, and what to watch out for. All numbers are the store's own claims from its website, terms or app listing.
TonMobile is a travel eSIM service that sells data plans for 180+ countries through a Telegram bot, an iOS app and an Android app. Its terms name the operator: Intermob Limited, a Hong Kong company that took over the service from Tonave Services Limited on September 23, 2026.
TonMobile describes its flow in three steps: open the store in Telegram, the App Store or Google Play, choose a country and plan, then install the eSIM in a couple of taps. The apps add top-ups for an existing eSIM, a view of remaining data and validity, gifting, bulk purchases and cashback, according to the App Store listing.
The store takes Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Bitcoin and TON, and it states that no documents are required to buy. Current prices are published on the TonMobile price page; we do not quote them here because they change by destination.
Good to know
Mind the label
Airalo is a travel eSIM marketplace that claims 200+ locations and 30M+ customers. It sells local, regional and global plans, both fixed and unlimited: a Turkey unlimited plan starts at $11.50 for 3 days, regional plans from $5.00 for Europe and global plans from $8.50.
Checkout takes Visa, Mastercard, Amex, UnionPay, JCB, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Alipay in the app. Hotspot works when the device and network allow it. The catch sits in refunds: a wrong purchase or change of plans comes back as Airmoney credit, not as money.
Saily comes from Nord Security, the company behind NordVPN and NordPass, and claims over 200 destinations. Its fixed packs start small: Turkey 1 GB for 7 days costs $3.99. An optional US phone number for calls and texts costs $1.99 a month and requires ID verification.
Saily refunds a plan in full within 30 days if it was not installed or activated. After activation, a refund is only considered for quality issues or when more than 99% of the data is unused.
Holafly sells unlimited data by the number of days, from 1 to 90, and monthly subscriptions from $49.90. A Turkey plan costs $11.90 for 3 days and $73.90 for 30 days. Per-trip plans are data-only and share up to 1 GB of hotspot per day.
Holafly accepts Visa, Mastercard, Google Pay, Apple Pay and PayPal. Refunds for incompatible devices, cancelled trips or connection issues go back to the original payment method in 3 to 5 business days.
Nomad claims 200+ destinations with plans starting from $4.50, a free 1 GB trial and a Nomad Pass from $4.08 a month with always-on data. It accepts major cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal. Refund requests are accepted within 30 days, but unlimited plans are excluded.
Yesim is run by Genesis Group AG in Switzerland and claims over 200 destinations. It sells an unlimited day pass from $2.98 a day and Pay & Fly data from $1.10 per GB, with hotspot included at no extra fee. Unused plans and top-ups can be refunded within 30 days.
Ubigi is a brand of Transatel, part of the NTT group. It sells one-off, monthly and annual plans from 500 MB for 30 days at $5 up to unlimited plans for 8, 15 or 30 days, with tethering allowed on every plan. Refund requests must come within 14 business days of purchase.
Buying an eSIM online takes five steps, and the order matters more than the store. Install early, switch on late.
Confirm the phone shows an EID and is carrier-unlocked. On an iPhone the carrier lock field sits in SettingsGeneralAbout.
Choose the destination, then a fixed data pack or an unlimited plan for the length of the trip.
Use a card, Apple Pay or Google Pay anywhere; PayPal at six stores; Bitcoin or TON at TonMobile.
Scan the QR code or tap the in-app install button. Apple requires a Wi-Fi or hotspot connection for this step.
Select the travel eSIM as the data line, for example in SettingsCellularCellular Data on an iPhone, and turn on data roaming for that line.
Activation starts the clock
TonMobile's terms say the package starts being consumed as soon as the eSIM activates on the device. Turning the travel line on days before departure can shorten the trip coverage.
After the trip, Apple recommends checking that Turn On This Line is enabled for your home line and turning off travel lines you no longer use.
Every store on our shelf has a written refund rule, but the windows and conditions differ a lot. TonMobile accepts requests within 180 days of purchase while the package is still valid; Ubigi allows 14 business days.
| Store | When you can ask | Typical refundable case | How it is paid |
|---|---|---|---|
| TonMobile | Before expiry, within 180 days | Device not supported, network fault, eSIM not delivered | Cards up to 14 days, crypto up to 5 business days |
| Saily | 30 days | Plan not installed or activated | Full refund |
| Nomad | 30 days | Plan not installed or activated | 2 to 5 business days or Nomad Points |
| Yesim | 30 days | Unused plans and top-ups | Refund of the unused plan |
| Ubigi | 14 business days | Unused plan, incompatibility, proven fault | Processed within 10 business days |
| Holafly | Case-based | Incompatible device, cancelled trip, connection issue | Original method, 3 to 5 business days |
| Airalo | Case-based | Installation or technical problem | Airmoney or original method, 7 to 10 business days |
Refund deadline calculator
Pick the store and the day you paid to see the last day to ask for a refund. Airalo and Holafly decide by case, not by a fixed window, so they are not listed.
Two things are never refundable at TonMobile: a profile you deleted yourself and one you installed incorrectly. The full comparison is in our guide to eSIM refund policies.
An unlimited plan makes sense for navigation, video calls and hotspot use on short trips; a fixed pack is cheaper when you mostly message and check maps. "Unlimited" rarely means full speed forever.

Hotspot rules differ too: Holafly caps per-trip hotspot at 1 GB per day, while Ubigi allows tethering on all plans. Our guide on what unlimited really means compares the rules store by store.
Buying an eSIM online is safe when the store publishes who runs it, its terms and a refund policy. All seven stores on our shelf name their company or parent, from Intermob Limited at TonMobile to Nord Security at Saily and Transatel at Ubigi.
Telegram buyers
Open the store bot from the link on the provider's own website rather than from search inside Telegram. TonMobile's support account is listed in its bot profile as @mobilesuppbot.
Most failed eSIM purchases come down to the phone or the timing, not the store.
Phone
A carrier-locked phone rejects the profile. Check the lock field before paying.
Timing
Plans that count from activation lose days if you switch the line on at home.
Profile
A deleted profile is usually gone for good, and TonMobile does not refund it.
Expectations
TonMobile, Holafly and Ubigi travel plans are data-only. Calls go through messaging apps.
